CreditCollect continued its strong support for the Lakes Oil Tour of Gippsland again sponsoring the four Criterium stages of the 5 day event, held July 28th to August 1st.
This year saw a record level of over 160 riders nominate for the five-day Tour of Gippsland which started with a closed-circuit criterium in Wonthaggi on Wednesday, July 28, and end with another CreditCollect criterium in Paynesville on Sunday, August 1.
The eight-stage tour covered 515kms over a spectacular course, embracing five municipalities – Bass Coast, Baw Baw, Latrobe, Wellington and East Gipplsand.
The opening two stages in the Bass Coast region formed part of historic Wonthaggi’s 100th anniversary celebrations.
Prominent cities and towns to feature in the tour included Wonthaggi, Warragul, Newborough, Morwell, Maffra, Bairnsdale, Lakes Entrance and Paynesville.
Aside from overall tour glory, riders vied for several other category awards, including the SP AusNet sprint championship and the CreditCollect criterium title.
There were 72 intermediate sprints, 15 king of the mountains climbs and four criteriums in the event.
Patrick Shaw was the overall winner of the Lakes Oil Tour of Gippsland and also was the overall CreditCollect Criterium winner with 30 points.
Congratulations must go to John Craven and his team at Caribou for such a professional ran event bringing elite sportsman to the Gippsland region.
